Activities of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell for the academic year 2019-2020

The IQAC activities commenced with the Students Induction Program from 19th to 21st June 2019 for both forenoon and afternoon session students. The first year students were acquainted with the history, facilities and various clubs available within the campus by senior faculty members of our College. A session on the Vision and Mission of the College was delivered by Dr. Jeremy Sunderraj, Training and Development Coach and Mr. Chandru Durairaj, Peak Performance Coach & Social Visionary. Tips to stay healthy and fit were discussed by faculty members of the Science Departments. A session on motivation was conducted by research scholars of the Psychology Department to improve their confidence level and to make them learn to express their talents. There were talks on social responsibility towards society by Ms. Jasna & Mrs. S.Vallirajalakshmi, RIPE Consulting Service Pvt. Ltd. A session on cyber security was also conducted as to how we must be safe on social media by Mrs. N.Anusuya, Inspector of Police, Cyber crime cell & Mrs. Lavanya, Crime Branch, Department of Police, Govt. of Tamilnadu. On 3rd August 2019, a soft skill training program titled Metamorphosis was also conducted in association with Honour's club in order to imbibe positivity among the students by Rev. Ben General, Team leader, Lousiana, USA and Billy Graham Paulose, Correspondent, Christ The King International School, Rameswaram.

A faculty enrichment programme under CPE grant was conducted for 3 days from 26th to 28th August 2019 at the Teaching Learning centre, IIT Madras by IIT Professors on Basics of Research, how to write a research proposal and funding agencies. On 12th September 2019 a faculty enrichment programme under CPE grant was organized by the Teaching Learning centre, IIT Madras by IIT Professors on Mapping the Outcomes.

On 20th September 2019, a session on evaluation reforms and conduct of exams was also conducted by Controller of Examination, Dr. Mercy Rajasekar as a part of the Students' Induction programme.

An entry level test in Google docs was conducted for the first year students to check their knowledge in current affairs, aptitude, logical reasoning and computer knowledge.

On 9th October 2019, a gender sensitisation programme titled SAMUTHUVAM was conducted for the final year students by Mrs. Padma Anil kumar, an Educational consultant and Psychologist, Founder/ Director SITTARA centre for Self- Discovery. On 10th October 2019, a programme for Slow learners titled BLOOM was conducted on memory skills and simplified way of learning by Mrs. Rekha Murali, Trainer and Educator, Director of Samrakshana Vidya. On 11th October 2019, a programme for Advanced learners titled ILLUMINATE was lead by Dr. Vijayalakshmi, Assistant Prof., Department of Management Studies, IIT Madras. Parent teacher association meetings were held twice, (21.09.2019 and 29.02.2020) where the Principal addressed the parents about the facilities & opportunities provided by the college and also the placement training conducted for their wards. Mentor- Mentee sessions were conducted on stipulated dates. Online Google docs feedback were collected from the alumni, parents and from students on curriculum. Under the CPE grant, Faculty development programme titled Creating Digital Resources was conducted on 11th January 2020 in the college on development of e-content and creating digital resources by Dr. Murugan, Assistant Professor, Department of Management Studies, University of Hyderabad.

A 3 day faculty enrichment programme was conducted under CPE grant from 9th to 11th March 2020, on Leadership Excellence for Heads of the Departments and IQAC members at IIT Madras.

During the lockdown period the IQAC arranged for a 7 day faculty enrichment programme from 27th May 2020 to 2nd June 2020 under CPE through the zoom platform on how to create and handle e-content to provide virtual teaching to students during this pandemic. The resource person was Dr. NaseerAli, an author and trainer in Educational Technology and also an Assistant Professor At Aligarh Muslim University Centre, Kochi. On 11th July 2020, a workshop cum faculty enrichment programme through online platform was conducted by IQAC India Cluster, Pune on Attainment of Programme Outcomes.

The National Webinar on Measuring the Attainment of Learning Outcomes by the IQAC cluster of India was conducted successfully on 11th July 2020. The resource persons were Prof. Bharath Kangude, founder member of IQAC Cluster, India, & Head, Department of Physics, Baburaoji Gholap College, Maharashtra, Prof. Popat Savaleram Tambade, member of IQAC Cluster, IQAC Coordinator & Head, Department of Physics, Prof. Ramakrishna More Arts, Commerce and Science College, Pune and Dr. Lalitha Vivek Rane, Associate Professor, Department of Physics & Chairman, Outcome based Committee of Prof. Ramakrishna More Arts, Commerce and Science College, Pune.
