Report on Alumnae Reunion held on 23rd July 2022.

The Alumnae Reunion for the academic year 2022-2023 was held on Saturday the 23rd of July 2022 in the College Auditorium at 10.45 a.m. Many alumnae from different batches (1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and 2000- 2021) participated in the reunion to renew their connections with their alma mater. The meet provided a fantastic opportunity to reconnect with friends and recall their memories. The theme of the Reunion was ˜Success Stories- Yes We Can”.

The programme began with a prayer. Dr. Amthul Azeez, The Principal Incharge, welcomed the gathering and introduced the Guests of Honour. She updated the alumnae about the progress of the institution and that the NAAC had accredited the College with A++ status one of the biggest achievements to the institution. She highlighted the relevance of the theme of the Reunion - Success Story - ˜Yes We Can” with the success of the institution and our alumnae who are playing vital roles in various capacities around the world. The Principal Incharge presented a quick overview of the happenings of the last year. She introduced the Guest of Honour, Ms. Radhika Santhanakrishnan, Founder, Penn Nalam Aan Nalam Hospital, who is an alumna of the college. She noted that in spite of the health concerns that Mrs. Radhika had, she had conquered every obstacle that she faced to establish a hospital totally focused on providing affordable cancer treatment for cancer patients.

The Annual Report of the Alumnae Association was delivered by Dr. Rayeesunisa Joint Secretary of Alumnae Association, she highlighted on the activities of the Association for the year 2021-2022.

Mr. Faizur Rahman Sayeed, Correspondent, Justice Basheer Ahmed Sayeed College for Women and Secretary, S.I.E.Trust, In his address, observed that he was extremely happy to have the alumnae in the campus. He noted the circumstances that prevailed when the college was founded. The higher education for Muslim women was a struggle during the yesteryears. He proudly noted that since the inception of the college more than a lakh Students have graduated from the institution and more than 60% of them were non-Muslims. He highlighted that the longest serving Principal was Mrs. Rajam Krishnan who served for 22 years.

The Alumnae Association Newsletter titled “JBAS BULLETIN 2022” was released by Mr. Faizur Rahman Sayeed, Correspondent, Justice Basheer Ahmed Sayeed College for Women and Secretary, S.I.E. Trust, and was presented to the Guest of Honour and all the dignitaries on the dais. The JBAS Bulletin was also made available in the alumnae website.

The Alumnae Achievers were felicitated by the Chief Guest.

A lucky draw contest was organised for the alumnae and the winners were drawn by the Chief Guest, Correspondent and the Principal.

B. Karthika (IDD), Mohammed Maryam (Home Science) and Sushma C. S. (Computer Science) were the lucky winners.

In the lucky draw for the faculty members Forenoon Session, Dr. Safiya, Medical Officer, Dr. D Mubeen Sultana (Zoology), Dr. S. M. Zubaidunisa (Economics), Dr. Anjum A. (Biochemistry) emerged as winners.

• In the lucky draw for the faculty members of Afternoon Session,

Mrs. Saleema Parvin S.B., Mrs. Farhath Anjum (Economics) and Mrs. Asfiya Banu (TTM) were the winners.

• In the luck draw for the Alumnae non-teaching staff,

Mrs. Thasneem Fathima and Mrs. Ramya of COE’s office and Mrs. Haseena Begum (Evening Office) were the winners. Prizes were distributed to the winners by the dignitaries.

The alumnae who were unable to attend the event had shared their fond memories as video messages and the same was shown in the meeting. Dr. Firdouse Jahan, Vice Principal of Afternoon Session proposed the vote of thanks and the meeting concluded with the National Anthem.

The alumnae were treated with a sumptuous meal arranged by the Alumnae Association in the quadrangle of the campus. The entire programme was live streamed on the college official YouTube channel for the benefit of many alumnae who were unable to join the day’s occasion and about 904 alumnae viewed the programme.
