Alumnae Reunion July 2021 - Report
Alumnae Reunions are great milestones for the colleges and Justice Basheer Ahmed Sayeed College for Women conducts it every year. Due to the current scenario where public gatherings are prohibited, Justice Basheer Ahmed Sayeed College had conducted the Alumnae Reunion through a Virtual Platform and there was live streaming on YouTube too.
The theme for this year Alumnae Reunion 2021 was Cope and Hope - A Tribute to Women during Covid Times.
It was conducted on Saturday, the 10th of July 2021 at 4:30p.m. on Cisco WebEx platform.
The program started with the rendition of verses from the Glorious Quran and their translation in English. The Principal, Dr. Shanaz Ahamed welcomed the gathering. The Alumnae Activities Report was read by Dr.Fathima Banu, Joint Secretary, Alumnae Association.
Mr. Faizur Rahman Sayeed, LLB. (Bar- at- Law) Secretary, SIETrust and Correspondent, JBAS College, delivered the Presidential Address and released the Newsletter titled JBAS Bulletin 2021. In his Presidential address, Mr. Faizur Rahman Sayeed stated that he was very glad to be connected with all the alumnae and would have very much liked to have everyone physically present. He further stated that the alumnae are a great asset to the Institution as they are the products and ambassadors of the College. He further reiterated that the College which had been established by his parents had grown from strength to strength and that they would have been proud of all the Empowered Women. He requested the alumnae to continue to take interest in the affairs of the College. The newsletter JBAS Bulletin was also made available in the alumnae website.
Dr. Roshanara, Secretary, Alumnae Association addressed the gathering too. She emphasized that she is a proud alumna as she had joined the College as a student and went on to become a Professor, retired as the Controller of Examination and was also the Secretary, Alumnae Association. This was followed by a Special Address given by our illustrious Alumna, Dr. G. L. Sampoorna (1975 batch), Psychologist and Founder, Ratna Centre for Conscious Living. Dr. Sampoorna spoke on the Wellbeing Tool Kit necessary during the Covid Pandemic and gave us pointers on releasing the stress caused by this Pandemic. She also offered to initiate a mentoring program which would contribute to the development of students. Mrs.Hasna Fathima Mohamed (2000 batch), Professor and Entrepreneur, San Jacinto College Houston, Texas had planned to speak on the Role of Women during the Pandemic but unfortunately due to technical issues she was unable to participate live in the meet but she sent a recorded video of her talk to be posted in the Alumnae website.
A feedback form was posted in the chat box during the programand our alumnae submitted the same.
Many alumnae from across the globe shared their reminiscences. There was Reshma Khan (1997 batch) from New Jersey, Ms. Sasikala (1991 batch) from Los Angeles to Modhimita Das Gupta (1990 batch) Coimbatore, Dr. Josephine Nirmala Many (1984 batch) from Puducherry, Ms Gayathri Laxmi Narayanan, Divya S, a playback singer and Shenaz Parveen. All the alumnae praised the college as it had played a major role in their development. They attributed their success to the Professors and the college for honing their skills. This was followed by a Cultural Programme organized by the students of the college. Ms. Shamsad Ahmed (1974 batch) sung a Hindi song and Ms. Sheela performed a Kathak dance.
The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr. Rayeesunisa, Organizing Secretary. The Virtual meet successfully came to an end by the rendition of the National Anthem.
