History

                    The Department of Arabic was established in the year 1997. After the Inspection by the member of the Inspection Committee headed by Dr. Thyagarajan , Head of the Department of microrobiology, University of Madras as a Convener along with Dr.P.Nisar Ahmed Saheb, Head of the Department of Arabic,Persian and Urdu,University of Madras. Based on their report on the Infrastructure facilities of Arabic Department, the Affiliation for the Introduction of Arabic as a foundation Course was granted by the University of Madras in the year 1998-99.

                       Dr.Sayeeda Sultana was the head and served the Institution for 10 years.The Department offers Part-I Arabic for Under Graduate Arts and Science Students. The Course Combines theory with Practice to Develop knowledge and imbibe communication skill. Emphasis is equally placed on all four of the basic language skills: reading, listening comprehension, speaking, and writing. After completion, the Students are eligible to take up Master’s degree in Arabic studies. The total enrollment of students as for the academic year 2019 is 425. Our faculty are well-rounded Individuals who are committed,hardworking with a passion for teaching-learning and they Contribute to the Students’ success.

• To encourage students to opt for Higher Education in Arabic Literature and Islamic studies to serve the community.
• To shape their future by instilling values to help the future Generation.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DEPARTMENT:

• Text Books for all Four Semesters are compiled by the Department.
• Department Provides Book bank, ICT Digital teaching aids with e- books,Online videos and other facilities to ensure Better interaction and engagement of students in classroom activities.
• Students from other states as well as from Arab countries such as UAE also opt for Arabic language.
• The Faculties also extend honorary service to the students of Shift II to learn Arabic language.
• Alumnae of our department are working in many city schools as teachers.
• Classroom studies promote written and critical-thinking skills of the Students.
