SAKURA SCIENCE PROGRAM (SSP) 2017


Two students of Justice Basheer Ahmed Sayeed College for Women, Ms. Tanzeem Azeeza and Ms. Aparna Suresh, pursuing their II Year Master’s Degree in Zoology Department and Dr. Amthul Azeez, Vice-Principal and Head of the Department of Zoology, J.B.A.S. College for Women attended the Japan Asia Youth Exchange Program in Science titled “Progress of Biomedical Technology to improve Quality of Learning in Indian States – a role of women researcher and Japanese support system towards encouraging women researchers” funded by the Japan Science and Technology Agency and organised by the Department of Applied Physiology, University of Miyazaki, Japan.  It was a ten day program from July 3rd to July 12th, 2017.

The program included group of ten young researchers from other universities across India.  Dr. Amthul Azeez was the coordinator for the team from India. They spent ten days in Miyazaki, Japan, visiting various research laboratories, interacting with young women researchers at the University.  They also had a taste of Japanese culture, the cuisine, wearing kimono, visited the state of the art Eco Clean Plaza recycling plant and explored the scenic beauty and shrines in Miyazaki, Japan. 

A special lunch meet with all women researchers and meeting with Tsuyomee Ikenoue, the President of the University of Miyazaki were some of the highlights of the Program with the motto of “Learn Today, Lead Tomorrow”.

The young researchers made presentations besides attending the special lectures and inspection of facilities and returned home rich in knowledge and with cherished memories of Japanese Cultural experience.
