Pasteur club Report 2023-2024

The Pasteur club of the Department of Microbiology, Justice Basheer Ahmed Sayeed College for women was inaugurated for the academic year 2023-2024 on 11th September, 2022. The faculty Coordinators of the club are Dr. W. Parveen and Mrs. S. Irfana Tabassum. The chief guest of the event was Dr. M. N. Sankar, Founder & President of Complementory medical Academy of Acupuncture Science. The inaugural address was on the topic "Health in your Hands". The audience was greatly benefited by his vast knowledge and experience in Acupuncture Science. He also demonstrated Acupuncture treatment methods for common health issues like Thyroid, Blood pressure, Diabetes etc.

The Pasteur Club of the Microbiology Department, Justice Basheer Ahmed Sayeed College for Women, conducted a class campaign on December 27, 2023, and briefed on "Awareness to Monsoonal Diseases." The students of UG and PG of Microbiology participated in the class campaign and spread awareness throughout the college in each and every department. The awareness was about monsoonal diseases such as airborne (influenza), waterborne (typhoid and cholera), mosquito borne (malaria and dengue), and also the symptoms, transmission, prevention and treatment. A questionnaire has been circulated to the students during the campaign to get the results of the survey and to perform statistical analysis based on the responses of the infected individual.

The Pasteur Club of the Microbiology Department, Justice Basheer Ahmed Sayeed College for Women, conducted an inter- departmental workshop "Pure Palate: Assessment of Food Quality” on Wednesday, 21st February 2024. The resource person of the event was BHUVANESWARI LOGANATHAN Food Safety Consultant, Trainer & ISO Certified Lead Auditor 22000: 2005.She demonstrated the Methods to detect food adulteration and Hands On Training was done by the participants. About 60 students attended the workshop and benefited from the workshop.

The videos on awareness of various emerging diseases such as Leprosy, were shared with all the departments every month to benefit the staff and the students. The office bearers of Pasteur club also delivered Pep talks in the assemblies to the students of the Afternoon session.
