Annual Report 2015-16
Under the able guidance and supervision of the four Programme Officers, Dr Parveen Sultana, Dr Lalitha, Dr Mallika Begum and Dr Agthar Begum., the NSS unit of Justice Basheer Ahmed Sayeed College for Women has conducted several awareness programmes and participated in rallies.
- An orientation programme was conducted for the first-year students and the NSS volunteers of the second-year students in the college auditorium Dr. Parveen Sultana the NSS programme officer explained the motto of NSS. The students were shown a presentation about NSS and its various objectives, activities, benefits, awards etc.
- World Yoga Day was held on 21st June 2015
- Around 50 student volunteers and the NSS Programme Officers participated in the NSS conference on World Population Day held at DMS on the 11th of July 2015.
- Campus Cleaning Programme – Swatchtha Pakwara.
- NSS Blood Donation camp: The NSS unit of our college along with the Lions Club Chennai Skyline organised a blood donation camp on the 11th of January 2016, around a hundred volunteers and staff members donated their blood. Blood donors received a certificate of appreciation from the Lions Club of Chennai.
- Dengue Awareness Programme: The NSS unit of our college conducted a special Dengue Awareness Programme in our college Library Hall on the 16th of September 2016 nearly 50 students and staff from various departments benefited from the program a medical team from the Deputy Director of Medical Services DMS campus Chennai came to our college to elucidate about dengue fever and the cause of it. The students were taken around the campus to look for stagnated water which is the breeding ground for mosquitoes.
- The NSS unit of our college organised a rally to spread environmental awareness. Over 150 active volunteers participated in the event armed with banners posters and pluck cards the students went to JBAS College for Women, Dyslexia Centre, Fatima Basheer School and JBAS Boys School.
