Enviroclub Report  (2016-2017)

The year began with the commemoratation of World Environment Day in the College campus on 5th June 2017.

Oxygen zone was inaugurated in the College campus on 22nd August 2017 by the Principal and Vice Principal of Forenoon Session.

Bins were placed in the College campus to segregate Biodegradable and Non biodegradable waste with the help of Enviroclub students. Each department was also given 5 tulasi plants to be palced in their respective departments.

Enviroclub students along with Enviroclub faculty members participated in the International Coastal cleanup campaign  organized by Indian coast guards at Marina beach in September 2016.

 World wild Life week was celebrated on 7th October with Hand painting and Poetry writing competitions for the students of both forenoon and Afternoon session.

The College campus was surveyed after the Vardha cyclone and the loss of green cover was estimated by the Enviroclub Co-ordinators along with the Herbal club and a list of trees to the replanted was submitted to the management.

Boards with Enviro quotes have been put up in the College campus to create an awareness on the need to conserve nature.

Meetings are conducted with ground staff regarding cleanliness of the campus.

Herbal club organized a seminar cum workshop on Organic farming on 1st March 2017.

A tree planting programme was organized in the College campus in association with the American Library on 10th March 2017. The U. S Public affairs officer Mr. Eric T Lund participated in the event and spoke on the importance of trees and the effects of Vardha cyclone on the city of Chennai.

The Enviroclub Co-ordinator, Dr. Kaneez Fathima, was a panelist in the discussion held at the U. S consulate on 22nd March 2017 on World Water Day.
