ACTIVITIES OF THE RI FORUM (2019-2020):
The aim of the course is to build a strong foundation of high moral values and to strengthen peaceful coexistence in the multi-cultural, multi religious and multilingual country as ours. The course commenced with an Orientation Program on the 27 th of June 2019 and culminated in the Annual Examination on 25th February 2020.
Regular Bayans were conducted every Friday at the Masjid during the bayan hour (10.30am to 11.20 am). Special bayans and Workshops were organised on various religious topics of special significance. Renowned and eminent guest speakers were invited to enlighten the audience.
The Annual Essay Writing competition in English, Tamil, and Urdu on different aspects of the ‘Life and Teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings be upon him)’ was conducted for students on the 10 th of October 2019. Prizes were awarded to the best essays. Special prizes were awarded to the non-Muslim participants to encourage religious integration and communal harmony.
On 3 rd of February 2020, an initiative was set up at the college masjid under the name ‘JOY OF GIVING charity corner’. It was inaugurated by the Principal Dr. Shanaz Ahmed and the Vice Principal Dr. Amthul Azeez. A cupboard is placed at the college masjid which will be kept open during the college hours for staff and students to donate generously material of any kind which is in usable condition. Anyone who is in need is free to help themselves from the charity cupboard.
An essay writing competition, constituted by our Chairman Janab Moosa Raza Saheb to promote religious harmony was also conducted on 28th February, 2020. The Muslim students wrote on the topic “Thirukural 40 -the benefits of learning†and the non-Muslim students wrote on the topic “Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings be upon him) – a loved leaderâ€. The Inter departmental RI programme, JUST BLISS 2020 was organised on 20th February 2020. The Muslim and non-Muslim students enthusiastically participated in the various events conducted. Five on stage and four off stage events were conducted. The chief guests of the day were Mr. Mohammed Umar Sulaiman, Director – Operations and Parent Body of Preston International College and Al Fajr International School and Begum Seema Ahmed, Trustee- Arcot Foundations and Wife of Dewan to The Nawab of Arcot. The Guest of Homour was Mrs.Parveen Papa, Cofounder and Director, Huma Specialists Hospitals and Reseach Centre. Dawah stalls and game stalls were also put up on the day. The overall trophy was bagged by the Department of Physics.
The Annual Function of the Orientation Course in Islam was celebrated on the 13th of March 2020. The Chief Guest of the event was Professor Syed Akheel Ahmed,Founder and former Vice Chancellor, Yenepoya University. Prizes were awarded to the toppers of the Annual Examination and Essay writing competition.
