ACTIVITIES OF THE RI FORUM (2023-2024):

The R.I. Forum bridges the gap between students and management, fostering growth and development. It addresses not only the external aspects of student life but also works diligently on enhancing their spiritual well-being. By focusing on internal spirituality, the forum aims to bring individuals closer to their Rabb, continuously striving for holistic development and deeper religious understanding. The academic year 2023 – 2024 aimed to fulfill all the above stated principles.

The Student Secretaries for the academic year 2023 – 2024 were Tahura Fathima and Aysha Maryam from the department of Psychology The Activities conducted during the academic year were RI ORIENTATION DAY:

The RI orientation program, held on July 14, 2023, featured Brother Umar Suleiman, Director of Operations at PERF, as The Chief Guest, enlightening first-year students about RI Forum activities.

Regular bayans were conducted every Friday at the college masjid from 10.30 to 11.20 am on various eeman-boosting sessions by knowledgeable speakers.

Council for Peace Sessions were conducted offline on alternate Wednesdays after college hours, where enthusiastic students engaged in vibrant discussions related to religion. Subsequently, online CP sessions have been implemented on alternate Sundays. Some topics that were discussed are: Quran- A Mercy to Mankind, Day-to-Day life Ibadah, Miracles during Migration, Minor and Major signs of Day of Judgement and many more

Religious instruction classes were conducted for Muslim students on all Thursdays by team of dedicated Muslim Staff members which was followed by the RI Annual Examination on 22nd of February 2024. The textbooks – “Islam beliefs and Teachings” by Ghulam Sarwar for UG students and “A Treasury of Hadith and Sunnah” for PG Students are the resource materials.

The RI essay writing competitions were conducted on 18th of January 2024 for the Ug and Pg students.

The topic given were as follows:

I UG – Islamic Perspective on Women’s Rights.
II UG – The Role of Muslim Youth in the Growth of Society
III UG – Hijab – The Spiritual Modesty
I PG – The Prerogative Status of Mother in Islam.
II PG – Balance and Moderation in Islam.

(A special essay writing competition, constituted by our Chairman Janab Moosa Raza Saheb that Is conducted every academic year to promote religious harmony was held on 20th February 2024.
The Muslim students wrote on the topic “Nurturing good friendship requires more than just a Cheerful face” and the non-Muslim students wrote on the topic “Equality and brotherhood as Prescribed in Islam”. Cash prizes were awarded to the best essays on the college day.)

Joy of giving is a charity initiative which was inaugurated in the academic year 2019-2020. A Cupboard is placed at the college masjid which is open during the college hours for staff aand. Students to donate generously materials of any kind which are in usable condition. Anyone who Is in need is free to help themselves from the charity cupboard.

Congregational Dhuhr Salah is conducted every Friday in the college Masjid. The Salah is led by The huffaz among the students of our college. A short reminder is given after the Salah.

The Interdepartmental RI Events JUST BLISS – A Step Closer To Paradise was conducted on the 4th of March 2024. Indeed it was a blissful day where the students took part enthusiastically in the various competitions held in a fun and halal way. There were four on stage and six offstage events.

The chief guests of the day were Sister Ramlet , a Highly qualified professional with a diverse Background, holding multiple degrees including a PhD in Psychotherapy And Counseling, and specializing in areas such as Psycho-Oncology and Rafia Riaz, a distinguished alumna of JBAS College, holds a BSc in Mathematics (2005) and an MA in Arabic from the University of Madras (2010), complemented by a B.Ed. from Measi College of Education (2011). The overall trophy was bagged by the department of psychology.

The Annual Function of the Orientation Course in Islam was celebrated on the 7th of March 2024. The Chief Guest of the event was Dr. Khaleel Ahmed a Ophthalmologist/ Eye Surgeon in Egmore, Chennai who has an experience of 26 years in this field. Dr. Khaleel Ahmed practices at An – Noor Eye Hospital in Egmore. Dr Yaseen Rafiq , Former Director of MWA School distributed prizes which were awarded to the toppers of the Annual Examination and Essay writing competition.
