ANNUAL REPORT OF THE ORIENTATION COURSE IN ISLAM (2022-2023)

The Orientation course in Islam, established in the year 1964, supplements and complements the Academic studies with religious values and aims to support students in their journeys of spiritual and moral development by providing them access to authentic knowledge of Islam and exposure to its understanding and practice in real life.

It is actively run by the staff coordinators Mrs. H. Abida , Assistant Professor, Department Of English and Mrs. Jamal Sayeedha Tabassum, Assistant Professor, Department Of Chemistry. The committee members of the RI forum are Dr. (Mrs.) S. Rizwana Begum ( Dept Of Biochemistry), Mrs. Rasheeda Banu ( Dept Of Home Science), Dr. (Mrs.) Shaik Azeem Taj (Dept Of Plant Biology And Plant Biotechnology) and Mrs. A. Faiz Jahan ( Dept Of English).

ACTIVITIES OF THE RI FORUM DURING THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2022-2023.
RI ORIENTATION DAY:

The course commences with an orientation for the students. The RI Orientation day was held on 18TH August 2022. The guest of honour was Sr. Nikhath Fathima Suhail. The students were briefed about the activities of the RI forum and the chief guest addressed the audience on the topic – Importance of seeking knowledge.


REGULAR BAYANS:

Regular bayans were conducted every Friday at the college masjid from 10.30 to 11.20 am on various eeman-boosting sessions by knowledgeable speakers. Spiritually rejuvenating bayans on the topics Love Of Alalh- Its Light And its Effects, Never Despair of the Response of Allah, Power of Words, and Ramadan: Why? What? How? were conducted by Sister Zubaida. Sister Sumaiya Hussain (Faculty from Preston International College and graduate of Mahad al Lugatul Arabiyya from the renowned Ummul Qura University, Makkah) shared heart-touching insights on the topics “The beauty of Jananh”, and “Jahannam- The Place of Eternal Regrets”. Advocate Shakila Hameed has enlightened the audience with her sessions on the topics, “Know Who You Are” and “What is the solution to our problems?” Sister Wafa Noor (Assistant Lecturer and Counselor from Aspire College Of Excellence) conducted a Webinar on the topic


“Love of homeland in Islam”. Bayans on the topics “The Akhira over the Dunya” By Sister Nausheen Adam, “The Escape from Sins” By Sister Sumayya Tabassum, “Peace of Heart and Mind” By Sister Tayyaba, “Knowledge- A Key to Happiness” By Sister Nihaya Fathima, “The Enemy of Mankind ” By Sister Rizwana Begum, “Islam- A Deen of Moderation” by Sister Maryam Afeefah, “Actions that can destroy one’s good deeds” By Sister Mariyam Mukhtar and “Quran- The Ultimate Miracle” by Sister Rehana were also conducted.

RI CLASSES:

Religious instruction classes were conducted for Muslim students on all Thursdays by a team of dedicated Muslim Staff members which was followed by the RI Annual Examination on the 16th of March 2023. The textbooks – “Islam beliefs and Teachings” by Ghulam Sarwar for UG students and “A Treasury of Hadith and Sunnah” for PG Students are the resource matierials.

RI ESSAY WRITING COMPETITIONS:

The RI essay writing competitions were conducted on 20th of October 2022 for the UG and PG students. The topics given were as follows:

I UG - ISLAM – The path of Guidance
II UG - My Shero from the great woman of Islam
III UG – Benefits of the Sunnah way of life
I PG – Prophet Muhammed (pbuh) – My Role Model.
II PG -The Significant of pondering on the verses of the Holy Quran

(A special essay writing competition, constituted by our Chairman Janab Moosa Raza Saheb that is conducted every academic year to promote religious harmony was held on 10thMarch, 2023. The Muslim students wrote on the topic “Propriety in conductd leads to eminence” and the non-Muslim students wrote on the topic “Love and Kimdness- The teaching of our beloved Prophet (s.a.w)”. Cash prizes were awarded to the best essays on the college day.)

JOY OF GIVING:

Joy of giving is a charity initiative which was inaugurated in the academic year 2019-2020 and was re-started this Academic year after the online break. A cupboard is placed at the college masjid which is open during the college hours for staff and students to donate generously materials of any kind which are in usable condition. Anyone who is in need is free to help themselves from the charity cupboard.

CONGREGATIONAL SALAH ON FRIDAYS:

Congregational Dhuhr Salah is conducted every Frdiay in the college Masjid. The Salah is lead by the huffaz among the students of our college. A short reminder is given after the Salah.

RI ANNUAL FUNCTION:

The programs of the RI forum culminate with the RI Annual Function at the end of the academic year in which the prize winners of the RI Essay writing competition and the top-ranking students of the RI Annual Examination are awarded with prizes.
