Activities of Academic year 2017-18
On the account of Consumer Rights Association, a programme was held on 3/8/2017, Mr.L.Singaram –Deputy Commissioner, Dept. of Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection presided over the function as the chief guest.
Mr. Anton Paiva, Assistant Commissioner, Dept. of Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection, spoke about Consumer Protection and problems faced by the consumers. He emphasized the way consumers are deceived by the traders. Mrs. K. P Kiran Rao, Advocate, Consumer Forum spoke about rights of consumer against service providers and manufacturers. Before the introduction of Consumer Protection Act, disputes between manufacturers and consumers took a long time to be solved. But after the introduction of Consumer’s Act, the maximum time to solve the dispute is 90 days. Mrs. Vijayathilagam-Manager, Dept. of Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection spoke about women being vital role in Consumerism, reason for changes in consumption patterns and style of consumption. She also spoke about certain Do’s and Don’ts.
