Activities of Academic year 2016-2017

The inaugural ceremony of the Young Entrepreneurs Forum was held on the 19th of Auguts 2016. The inauguration was presided over by a very distinguished and eminent personality, Mrs Mahalakshmi Saravanan, Founder and Partner of WomenEntrepreneurs of India.

The Chief Guest spoke of length on “what it means to be an entrepreneur” and inspired the audience to discover their areas of interest and passion and pursue the same as careers so that one derives immense pleasure and happiness from their professions. The Guest of Honor also shared the ecstasy and delight she experienced when she meets the unspoken needs of her clients after going the extra mile to unearth what they really wanted and satisfy their needs to the fullest.


The Young Entrepreneurs Forum organized the “INTER DEPARTMENTAL COLLEGE BAZAAR” on 7th September 2016. This date coincided with the Inter departmental cultural events of the college. The Bazaar was inaugurated by the Head of the Department of Commerce, Dr.Mrs.Amutha

The theme of the bazaar was “Innovate and experience the art of selling”. The college bazaar had over 20 stalls of enticing cuisine, exquisite handicrafts and trading items. Participants who were successful in attracting the buyers with their innovative display of marketing skills and thereby reporting highest sales were awarded exciting cash prizes. The prize for trading product category was bagged by a member of the forum from the Department of Psychology while the prizes for handmade product category and food category were awarded to the students of Department of Zoology and Commerce respectively.


The inter collegiate students bazaar known as “LAISSEZ FAIRE” a French term that translates to “individualism and free enterprise” aims to encourage the students to display their individualistic and free thinking. The bazaar was organized on the 8th of September, 2016 and was inaugurated by the Principal, Dr. Shahnaz Ahmed.

The bazaar had a very diverse set of participants from the evening session of JBAS College and various other city colleges who actively participated in stalls put up under the category of trading, handicrafts and food items. The “Best Seller” award in each category was bagged by GSS Jain College. The event was a huge success.


A seminar on entrepreneurship was organized on the 1st of December, 2016 by the International Women Entrepreneurs Summit. The members of the forum were very fortunate to have been invited to volunteer at the summit, an opportunity that knocks only once and the members were quick enough to grasp this golden opportunity to volunteer at the summit. The resource person was Ms Geeta Goti, National President, COE and Executive Director, Husys Consulting Ltd. She addressed the gathering on “Challenges and opportunities in start-ups and mentoring women entrepreneurs” Ms.Shaylaja Chetlur, owner of Shaylaar Productions and founder of Cinema Rendezvous addressed the gathering on the topic “Social entrepreneurship towards sustainable development”.


In order to assess the response and grasp of the intricacies of entrepreneurship, an Inter departmental competition “TIPS” was held on 6th February, 2017.

Students from different departments participated enthusiastically in various competition of T-shirt painting, Logo Designing, Poster Making, Product Packaging and Wealth of Waste. The creativity displayed at each of these events was very commendable and truly was a treat to the eyes.

T-shirt painting and Logo Designing were judged by the Associate Professor of Home Science Department, Mrs. Thejo Maye Mohan. Poster making, Product packaging and wealth out of waste was judged by the Head of the Department of Zoology, Dr.Mrs.Amtul Aziz.
