History

The Department was established at the inception of the College in the year 1955 the department offers Part-1 Urdu. the faculty of the department. Ms. Sayeeda Banu  Headed the department for the  past three decades Since 1989.Dr.Zakira Umme Shehla as the head of the department serving the college for over 25 years, retired from service in the year 2015,  Dr.Nikhath Sultana was then the Head & Assistant professor till 2019 and shifted to Afternoon session .

Currently Dr. Basheera Sultana Asst.professor and Head of the Department of Urdu.

Vision 

• To revive the rich tradition of Urdu language by enhancing the language skills of the students and encourage them to pursue higher studies in Urdu.

Mission

• To inculcate ethics and cultural values in students. To develop appreciation for Urdu as a mother tongue.  To impart knowledge of Urdu literature and culture.

Highlights

• Conduct of inter-class and inter-collegiate competitions to hone the language skill of the Students.

• Students are encouraged and tutored to participate in the intercollegiate and interdepartmental competitions conducted by the department.

• Conduct of Conversational classes in Classical Urdu  to improve the standard spoken Urdu.
