The Afternoon Session of Justice Basheer Ahmed Sayeed College for Women was established in the year 1990. The B.A English Literature was started in 1995. Like the central nervous system of the human body, the English Department reaches out to every other department in the college, awakening students to the beauty of English language and honing their creative and communicative skills, in order that the students may, in turn, take their place in the society and contribute to the betterment of the country. The English Department has always nourished and cultivated the all-round development of the students’ personality through various co-curricular and extracurricular activities. Every year a Literary Fiesta is organized by the department to enable students to showcase their talents. Various competitions like monologues, soliloquies, poetry recitation, quiz, crossword, spin-a-yarn, book review, creative writing, limericks, news anchoring etc. are conducted and prizes are awarded to the winners. The department also conducts many workshops to enhance the inter-personal skills of the students. Resource persons from various fields are invited to address the students.
