HISTORY

Our college, the Justice Basheer Ahmed Sayeed College for Women, formerly called as S.I.E.T (Southern India Education Trust) was started in the year 1955.  The Magnanimity of the Management towards Sanskrit is so great that in the year 1997, the Department was established in the Evening College under Dr. N. Sujatha.  The Department is now under the care of Mrs. R. Chitra. The names of the staff who handled the department are as follows:

VISION
  • To develop appreciation towards ancient Indian culture, books and different Indian arts and science.
  • To channalise student’s attitude and behavior coupled with moral and ethical values.
  • To encourage creativity in students through participation in various activities.
  • To create an academic environment to learn ancient Indian culture through classical books in Sanskrit.
  • To impart value to students to systematize the fundamental behavior and attitude of the teenagers.

  • To teach the language from the basic and develop an interest in course of study and imbibe the values, ethics and wisdom in their day to day life.
  • To inspire students to develop a taste for Indian literature, arts and science through variety of activities.

Highlights
  • The Department offers bridge course to the students who are not prone to the language of Sanskrit.
  • Practise is given to the students in the class room for proper pronunciation.
  • Conjunct Consonants and its usages are taught.
  • Identification of the letters is done in the class activities. Formation of short words, with the meaning is taught. 
  • Special characters and join words are introduced. They were trained to split and join the words, which helps them while reading their verses.
  • Proper tools like Sanskrit for beginners, CD’s, pictorial books and class room interactions are done periodically to enable the students gain strength in their subject.
  • Students are encouraged to take part in various competitions conducted by various city colleges. It develops their personality and improves their strength over the Sanskrit language
  • Seminar, Workshop and other inter-collegiate competitions are conducted periodically in a year for the students to make aware of the various fields of the subject.
