Library and Information Center

Web OPAC:  Library is automated using Integrated Library Management System software namely AUTOLIB developed by Auto Lib Software Systems (Total Library Automation Solution Provider) in the year 2009. The nature of automation is fully with SQL version 5.2 (JAVA as front end and MS-ACCESS as back end). It is designed to automate various   activities of the Library and provides WEB based services on the campus intranet/ internet. Bar-coding labels are pasted to all books and 'Digital Borrower's Card' is issued to all Staff and Students.

The collection building of the Library has more than 1 Lakh Books. Staff and Students can borrow books around the year. The charging system limits 2, 3 and 5 books for UG, PG and Research Scholars respectively. The Faculty Members can borrow 10 books at a time and the Non-Teaching staff and members of other institutions administered by the Management are also eligible to borrow books from the Library.

ONLINE INFORMATION ZONE (INTERNET FACILITY):  The Library has one IBM Server with10 Computers and 4 Printers for all housekeeping activities. 35 Computers with Internet facility is provided in the online information centre for web search for Students. Every Department is provided with a computer and printer with intranet facility. Online Question bank facility is available for the students.

BOOK BANK: A separate SC / ST  & Minorities book bank facility funded by the UGC is available for the needy students of UG / PG belong to the Departments of  Corporate Economics, Political Science, Applied Psychology &  Behavioural  Research, Bio Chemistry, Post Graduate & Research Department of Zoology, Plant Biology & Bio -Technology, Mathematics, Commerce and Chemistry. Donated 'Book Bank' facility is available in the Library for all the Students for a period of 30 days and this collection building consists of subject books, Language books, Religion and Fiction donated by the Staff and Students of the college.



A newly established House of Collection of 11,905 books with 4204 general books, 464 rare books on Manuscripts, 316 books on General Science, 929 books on History, 1487 Reference books, 1451 books on Art, Architecture and Paintings, 700 on French, 640 on German, 233 books on Persian, 562 books on Urdu, 814 on Arabic, 20 books on Sanskrit and other language books like Italy, Spanish, Japan and Chinese books are added to the Library Collection building.

REFERENCE AND REFERRAL SERVICE:

Reference section contains all department Reference Books, Competitive Exam Books, Journals, Theses, Project Reports. The Staff and Students are allowed to take photocopy of important Literature.  The Referral Service is provided by the Librarian

Membership cards are being issued to the Staff and Students to access their resources for project, research purpose etc.

REPROGRAPHIC FACILITY:

An outsourcing reprographic facility is provided for the Staff and the Students inside the Library. A nominal amount has been charged to Xerox the Library books.

LOSS/DAMAGE OF BOOKS:
  • Staff and Students are responsible for a safe custody and return of the books in time.
  • Damage or Loss of books shall be immediately reported to the Librarian in writing.
  • Staff and Student should replace the book or liable to pay the present cost of the book along with fine.
  • If the book is out of print or not available, they should pay double the amount of the book along with fine.
  • Hall Ticket / Transfer Certificate / Degree Certificate will not be issued to the Student.

LIBRARY ORIENTATION:

Every year orientation for the fresher’s about the Library is given by the Librarian.

BEST LIBRARY USER AWARD:

The Best Library user has been awarded to the I, II & III year UG students for the maximum no. of hours spent in the Library every year.

E-Journals/E-Books/Open Access Journals:

Library provides IP based access to e-books and e-journals on various disciplines available in the Library Databases. It also provides information to utilize the E-Resources through open access. Library has 35 PCs exclusively for browsing e-resources.

Mobile Apps/SMS Alert:

The Library software AUTOLIB is upgraded with new features such as JAPAR,  Z39 etc. Mobile Apps / SMS Alert has been activated for the staff and students.

LIBRARY ADVISORY COMMITTEE:

The Library Advisory Committee was set up with new panel of members approved by the Chairman, S.I.E.Trust.

MOU with SALIS:

Our college has signed a MOU with SALIS  (Society for the Advancement of Library and Information Science) Chennai, Tamil Nadu to enhance relation between the College Students, Faculties, Staff and Library Staff members to promote academic & research activities and Library services.

SWAYAM PRABHA: E-SATELLITE CHANNEL -Gateway for Teaching and Learning

Swayam Prabha is a good initiative by the MHRD, Government of India and the UGC, New Delhi to make use of the Technology for Learning and Teaching. The E-Learning through satellite channel has been launched in the Library to telecast the video Lecturers related to the Under Graduate and Post Graduate Students under one roof.

WORKSHOPS:

 Assessing and evaluating English language teacher education, teaching and learning conducted from 3rd to 5th March, 2012 organised by the British Council Library in collaboration with Hyderbad International Convention Centre, Hitech City, Hyderbad.

The College Library is conducting a training programme on Exposure to Web Resources for the students of both Fore-Noon and After Noon Colleges after their college hours.

 

VALUE ADDED CERTIFICATE COURSES:

 The Library of the College is conducting two free Literacy certificate courses on MS-Office & Internet and A certificate will be issued after completion of the Programme.
