JBAS Alumnae Reunion 2026 - "Invite"

JBAS College for Women is delighted to announce the Alumnae Reunion 2026, an occasion to reconnect with our esteemed alumnae and celebrate the enduring bond with our alma mater.

This year, the reunion will be held on 19th September 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Theme of the Reunion:
"Echoes of Excellence - Celebrating the Legacy of Leadership"

We invite interested alumnae to contribute to the newsletter by sharing:

  • Articles or write-ups on their achievements and awards.
  • Reminiscences of their college days.
  • Poems.
  • Paintings and sketches.
  • Any other noteworthy contributions or accomplishments.

Alumnae are requested to submit their contributions on or before 30 August 2026.

HONOURS CLUB ACTIVITIES FOR 2019-2020

The Honours Club commenced the activities for the academic year 2019-2020 on 3rd of August 2019 with a specially designed Student Induction Programme - Metamorphosis. The programme was organized to groom the overall personality and introduce the students to the culture of higher institution. Mr. Billy Graham Paulose, Correspondent, Christ The King International School, Rameshwaram and Rev. Ben General, Team Leader, Louisiana, USA were the resource persons for the day.

On the 22nd August, 2019 The Department of Tamil(A.N) in association with the Honours Club organized a debate competition for students on the topic “Social Media helps the youth or fools the youth?” Dr. Senthamarai Chinraj the Director of SIGMA IAS Academy judged the competition.

In collaboration with the Honours Club the Department of English of Afternoon Session organized a film critique of Oscar Award winning movies for students and staff on the 3rd of September 2019. Mr. Aditya Thangirala, Associate Director was invited to judge the competition. Many students and staff from various departments participated in the competition.

The Department of English (F.N) organised a talk on Climate Change and a workshop on The Multimedia Writer for the UG and PG students of the Department of English on 16th September 2019. The resource person for the workshop was Ms. Sheila Tefft, Senior Professor, Emory University, Atlanta, US. Ms. Tefft, in her talk focused on the Climate Change. In the second session, Ms. Tefft focussed on Multimedia Writing.

The Honours club in collaboration with the Department of Urdu (A.N) organized an Urdu Poetry Recitation Competition on 31st January, 2020. Dr. Nikhath Naaz, Assistant Professor, Department of Urdu, Queen Mary’s College was the chief guest and judge for the day. Fifteen students took part in this competition.

On 28.01.2020 the Honours Club in Collaboration with the Department of Hindi (A.N) conducted a Book Review Competition for students. Dr.K.Gowri, Hindi Pandit and Pracharak, Poet &Writer judged the competition. Students reviewed works of eminent authors such as Premchand, Mannu Bhandari, Sowmya Sarka, Rabinranath Tagore etc.

On the 2nd of March 2020, the Honours Club organized a Felicitation Ceremony to honour the achievements of students in the various literary activities for the academic year 2019-2020. The solemn occasion was presided over by Padma Bhushan Mr. Moosa Raza , I.A.S (R), Chairman of S.I.E Trust. Among other dignitaries present were Mr. Faizur Rahman Sayeed, LL.B(Bar-at-Law), Secretary S.I.E Trust and Correspondent, Mr. Olivannan, Founder, Chennai Literary Association, Mr. S Sambandan, Chief Administrative Officer, The Hindu Center for Politics and Public Policy, Ms. Shailaja Mani, Academic Manager, British Council, Chennai, Dr. Mrs. Shanaz Ahamed, Principal and Dr. Parveen Sultana, Secretary, Honours Club. Speaker’s corner, an initiative of Honours Club to give a platform for the students to voice out their views and ideas was inaugurated by The Chairman, Mr. Moosa Raza.

The Department of French (FN), conducted a Poetry Recitation competition under the banner of the Honours club, on 12th March 2020. The event was adjudged by Prof. Shamsuddin, Head, Department of French, The New College. The winners were awarded trophies.
