M.Sc Textile Science and Fashion Designing


History

The M.Sc course in Textiles and Clothing was introduced in July 1961. Since June 2004, the nomenclature has been changed to M.Sc Textile Science and Fashion Designing. The Post Graduate Branch of Textile Science and Fashion Designing of the Department of Postgraduate Studies and Research in Human science has conducted several workshops, inter-collegiate competitions, exhibitions and educational tours and field visits.     The department also offers M.Phil (full-time) course in Textiles and Clothing since 1986. In the Golden Jubilee Year 2005, the department introduced the Add-On-Course in Textile Designing, Dyeing, Printing and Entrepreneurship

The Post Graduate Branch of Textile Science and Fashion Designing of the Department of Postgraduate Studies and Research in Human science has conducted several workshops, inter-collegiate competitions, exhibitions and educational tours and field visits.

Student Achievements

STUDENT ACTIVITIES-  June 2013- Apr2014

  •  The Students participated in a Textile Cad Presentation for garment construction from ESSDiInfotechCorporation  by L.B Thiyagarajan on 6.09.2013.
  • The students I and II M.Sc  Textile Science & Fashion Designing were taken for a visit to an exhibition on FASHION FEST organized by Dream Zone, Royapettah Chennai on 10.10.2013.
  • The students of B.Sc I.D.D were taken for a visit to Kalpadruma and M.A Jacob to observe the furnishing fabrics and weaves on 18.10.2013.
  • A workshop on “Techniques of Fabric Painting” was organised  for II Year I.D.D and II year M.Sc  students by Mrs. Meera Rao, Senior faculty and training instructor, Pidilite industries on 09.12.2013.
  • Participated in a workshop on “Draping Techniques” II Year M.Sc TS&FD students by Mr.R.S. Balakumar, Faculty, Hindustan University, Chennai  on 18.12.2013
  • The students attended a Seminar on “Career Guidance and Job Opportunity” organized by FDDI, Ministry of Commerce and Industries, Govt. Of India, Sriperumbudur on 10.01.2014.
  • A workshop on “TEXTILE CAD”  wasorganised for II Year M.Sc TS&FD students by Mr. Kumaravelu, Textile Designing Software Consultant, Guest Faculty, Anna University on  17.01.2014 and 18.01.2014.
  • The students were taken for an exhibition to Kalakshetra to observe the Dastakari fabrics and weaves and prints  on 01.02.2014.
  • The students of II M.Sc organized a Fashion Show on “Neonista” in the college auditorium on 03.03.2014.
