Department of Corporate Economics

History

The Department of Economics started its journey with the post graduate course in the year 1993, while the course for under graduation was introduced in the year 1995. Since then, it has been imparting knowledge in diverse areas pertaining to economics. With the objective of meeting the growing demand for economics in the corporate world and to make the course more job-oriented, the curriculum design was changed from Economics to Corporate Economics in the year 2005. Our curriculum emphasizes economic theory, statistical analysis, principles of management, human resource management and the role of public policy in addressing economic and social problems. The Department of Economics constantly involves itself in bringing newer and more job-oriented subjects in to the stream of economics both at the time of P.G. and U.G levels enabling our students to face the challenges in the job-market.

Corporate Economics provides a general background that is useful to those planning careers in law, government service, or business as well as those planning careers as professional economists. Professional economists work as college teachers, as researchers for government agencies, businesses, and consulting firms, and as administrators and managers in a wide range of fields.
