    Inauguration of the Diamond Jubilee Block.
    Renovation of the College Auditorium with Air-Condition facility.

    2013 Introduction of one Add-on-Course funded by U.G.C with a sanctioned amount of Rs.10,00,000/- under the supervision of the Department of Mathematics. February – NAAC Peer team visit for the third cycle of accreditation. March – Reaccredited by NAAC in 2013 with an Outstanding CGPA of 3.61 (out of 4) at ‘A’ Grade

    October – Unveiling of the portrait of Mr.Justice Basheer Ahmed Sayeed (Retd.) Founder of the S.I.E.Trust, by H.E., V.V.Giri, the then Vice-President of India.

    July – Mosque consecrated by Mufti Haji Moulana Atiqur Rahman Usmani Saheb under the presidency of Mr. Fakhrudin Ali Ahmed, Union Minister for Agriculture & Irrigation..
    September 9th – the late Prof. Humayun Kabir, former Union Minister declared open the Laboratories for Child Development and Family Relations and Home Management.

    January 23rd-Seventh College Day celebrated under the presidency of the late Dr. Zakir Hussain, the then Vice-President of India.
    February 26th-Foundation Tablet for the Child Development Laboratory, etc. laid by the Hon’ble Mr.M.Bhakthavatsalam, the then Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
    April 4th – Foundation for Home Management Laboratory laid by Hajani Fathima Akhtar, B.A., Chairman, S.I.E. Trust.
    July 16th – Foundation for the Prayer Hall(Mosque) laid by Haji Mufti Moulvi Md. Habeebullah Saheb, Chief Government Khazi of Madras.

    April 5th – H.E.Col Gamel Abdul Nasser, President of the United Arab Republic laid the Foundation tablet for the Second Hall. First set of students graduated this year. Introduction of N.C.C.Rifle Corps.

    October 15th – The Auditorium-cum-Theatre was declared open by the then (Chief Justice , the Hon’ble Mr.P.V.Rajamannar, under the presidency of Mr. T.L.Venkatarama Iyer Retired Judge, Supreme Court of India.

    January 27th – The Swimming Pool inaugurated by the late Nawab Zain yar Jung, Former Minister of H.E.H. the Nizam’s Government Hyderabad,under the presidency of the late Mr. V.P.Menon, Retired Secretary to the Union Government

    July – The College was upgraded into a First Grade College. The First College Day was celebrated under the presidency of Mr. S.Radhakrishnan, the then Vice-President of India

  • 1956

    June - Introduction of N.C.C. The late Dr. K.G.Saiyidain, Secretary, and Ministry of Education, New Delhi, laid the foundation stone for the College Swimming Pool.

  • 1955

    College established by Mr. Basheer Ahmed Sayeed, then Judge, Madras High Court, ably assisted by a few of his colleagues and his wife Hajani Fathima Akhtar, B.A., in exercise of the Fundamental Rights guaranteed by Articles 26 to 30 of the Constitution of India and repeatedly confirmed by the Supreme Court of India. January 22nd – The Foundation tablet of the College and the first Hall laid by the late Prime Minister of India, Mr. Jawaharlal Nehru and by the late Moulana Abdul Kalam Azad, Education Minister, Government of India repectitively.
    August 6th-Formal inauguration by Mr.Sri Prakasa,the then Governor of Madras.The First Hall was declared open by Mr.C.Subramaniam, the then Minister of Finance and Education to the Government of Madras. The College buildings , as they had progressed till then were declared open by Mr.Kamaraj, the then Cheif Minister of the Government of Madras. The strenght of the Student body was 111.

  • 1953

    Purchase of about 16 acres of land for the College and Halls of Residence.

  • 1951

    October 23rd – The Founding of the Southern India Education Trust by Mr. Basheer Ahmed Sayeed in collaboration with seven other prominent Muslims of Madras.
